Thank Heavens for Primary Children's Hospital

I had my first experience of visiting in Primary Children's. My niece spiked a 104 degree temperature on Wednesday and was first diagnosed with pneumonia. She was admitted to Primary Children's in the Rapid Care Unit. The poor thing was poked and prodded, and had blood drawn. At one point her heart rate was over 200, and when she was sleeping, it was still around 170. Normal is around 120 for toddlers. She didn't sleep at all and they thought she might have had a blood infection. We kind of freaked out at that because it's septic and my dad become septic before he passed away. My mom and I went and saw her the day after and she was doing pretty well. She waved to us and said hi when we walked in, and had the time of her life with the I-pad. Anytime a nurse or the doctor came in, she would freak out and start screaming. Ryan said that even when a nurse put a stethoscope on her back, she started screaming. Poor thing. She stayed a full 24 hours testing negative for the common string of viruses. How happy she was to get out of there.

28...Two Years to Thirty! Oh my!

Wednesday was my birthday and it was great! I got lots of texts and posts on Facebook. Facebook has a great way of making me feel loved on my birthday. :) I still had to go to work, but I was sung to, very off-key, by two of my classes, and received a few gifts from my students. Some of them are so sweet. Diet coke was a popular gift: my favorite. I got home and saw my new I-phone was in the mail (I had to get a new one), and spent, oh, just an hour or so getting it all set up. Chris came home from work and found me laying in a ball on the bed half-asleep. He joked and said I forgot your birthday so I didn't really have anything planned. He went all out for me and got me some turtlenecks and yoga pants from H&M, a nice fuzzy blanket (saying I love blankets is an understatement), and new slippers. He wasn't too fond of the black stained bottoms on mine. He guessed my size well and I didn't have to return anything. He then took me to Cheesecake Factory.  Great food, great dessert, and great company. It was a good birthday. I am too spoiled by my husband. :)

What I Love Most About My Life...

Can I say I just love Pinterest? Who would have thought that one little site could bring so much joy to one or many persons? I found this sign today as I was just browsing around and this is so true. I honestly do love where I live and the area. We found a townhome and are renting just for now in the Sandy area. But this quote is so true! I love coming home to Chris or vice versa. Just sitting in the living room together with the TV on in the background is loads of fun. He can always make me laugh with the things he says, his random movie quotes, and just anything else. I love being married and wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes we have our little disagreements such as the temperature of the house or me picking up my socks, but I seriously love marriage. It's much more fun than being single and living with roommates. I highly recommend it :)

Wooden Signs

I have really gotten into crafting as of late. I'm getting excited for when Chris and I are able to buy our own home and I can spend time decorating walls, baby rooms, etc. I just found this on pinterest and wanted to share it. I love homemade things that are just plain simple but cute and great at the same time. These wooden signs are darling and would be easy to find plain ones and paint/decorate the way I want. Hobby Lobby has lots of word signs as well as JoAnn's and other craft stores. Check out the website by clicking on the picture or the link!

Betrayal

I used to have an amazing friend that I met through visiting teaching in Saint George when I got home from my mission. We had a lot of fun times and I was introduced to my love of Diet Coke through her. I became really good friends with her entire family and even some extended family. We had been friends for over five years. I wrote her on her mission and received great support and beautiful flowers when my father passed away. In fact she was one of my best friends, one I could tell anything to and truly trusted. It's is amazing for me because I have always had trust issues with a lot of people throughout my life. Males and females alike.
In high school, I was betrayed by people who I thought were my friends and had a very difficult start when I loved to Utah. I have great roommates throughout college but had difficulty finding true friends and roommates when I graduated from college and moved to borer Utah. But this particular friend was one I would always call, text, and could rely on.
Through unforeseen circumstances, a dress was misplaced before my wedding. I looked everywhere for it and could not find it. I have no idea what happened between the twelve hours between not bing ble to find the dress or my sealing, but she nor her family did not come to my sealing nor my luncheon. I did not figure out that she was not in attendance at my sealing until Chris and I were in the car on our way to our luncheon. I think this was a blessing in disguise that I did not learn of this until after we had left the temple. I didn't really concentrate on it until after our honeymoon.
After my honeymoon, I called, text, and tried to get in contact with her but to no avail. A couple weeks later I found out, through my sister-in-law, through friends you may know on Facebook, that she had taken me off her friends' account. Then today, I found out that I was blocked.
Now I'm not telling this sory to talk bad about her or vent or say how I am. More than that I'm more hurt than anything. From my knowledge and perspective, I didn't do anything wrong or if I did, I have no  recollection. I truly value my friendships, and losing one of the best ones I'd had is hurtful and disconcerting. After these kinds of experiences, I, unfortunately, don't want to take the time and effort to make new friends, but know that through time and effort I can have good friendships. Over the past few years, since the death of my dad, my best friends have become my husband and my family. I'm grateful for the closeness we have with one anothe, and especially that we will be a family forever in the eternities to come.

Craft Time!

One of my favorite holidays is Christmas and I wanted to get more decorations for our little townhouse. I really wanted to make them instead of buying them, so I found Super Saturday pins through Pinterest. You can buy the kit to make them or use a CriCut! My mom has a CriCut so she cut the vinyl for me, and I got the wood for free from our woodshop teacher. I spray painted them for a quick dry, put some ribbon on it, and voila! I had my crafts for Christmas! My husband came home to all of my crafts on the counter, a little worried I was putting more up for Halloween.

This one is my favorite. I love this saying!

Below, I have my Halloween craft I got from Pinterest. I spray painted little pumpkins we got from Chris' grandfather's garden and then did an overlay of glitter, bought a basket for 8 bucks at Hobby Lobby and voila! I also added some black painted pumpkins as well. I had my Halloween center piece for our coffee table. I decorated even before October hit. Needless to say, I was a little anxious to decorate. I was getting tired of the "home" decorations. This has been much cheaper than buying decorations. I'm loving it!

Fun on the Farm

One day during the summer, Alicia and I decided to meet one of Alicia's friends at Wheeler Farms in Sandy. They have animals all over the place as well as geese that just run wild. Lily loved the geese. She would find one and just follow it around for a long time. One goose even hissed at her and we freaked out for a minute, but she was oblivious to what had even happened. She loves animals! We had to guide her to the next ones because she would just stand and stare at them.
The chickens!

Loving the tractor!

Another day, Alicia and I went to buy some fresh produce up in Layton. We drove up there, and while Alicia was buying the vegetables, I was in charge of Lily. I let her walk on the table, and she walked right up to the tomatoes, picked a very large one up, and bit into it. Well, we bought it. $1.35 for the tomato! She loved it. She gnawed on it the entire way home. Now any time we go to the store, we usually give her a peach to chew on and by the time we get to the register, she has eaten about half of it. Quite the little eater with only two bottom teeth!

Just beginning...

Finished! I think she got a little sick...

Turning ONE is Oh So Sweet!

I honestly can't believe my niece is already a year old. We have had so much fun together this summer since my brother and sister-in-law have moved up. She turned one on June 17 and we had quite the party for her. My mom came up and we had the party at our townhouse. As a tradition, she got her own cake and lots of presents. She was more intrigued with the cards than with opening the presents obviously. We then went swimming as a family at my complex pool. She has such a fun personality and her favorite words so far are wow, hi, momma, dada, and some others. It's always lots of fun when I go over and see her because she gets so excited and she yells "hi!" It's just plain adorable.

Look how small I was!
Digging in! Oh so good!

Let's play instead now!

Graduation!

As you can tell, I'm somewhat behind on my blogging. On May 4, the day before Chris and I got married, we both graduated. I, obviously, didn't walk because mine was from Arkansas State, but Chris walked at the U. I got my masters in education and he got his Bachelors in Family and Consumer Studies. He will be starting his MBA through Western Governors in October. It was a very busy, yet great weekend!

For Time and All Eternity...

On March 16 and 17, my family was able to attend the endowment session for my brother Ryan and the sealing of him and his wife, Alicia, and their little girl Lily. Lily was about nine months old and was the cutest thing in white. She was in a short sleeve white dress with her hair in pig tails with white bows. During the sealing, she just wanted her mom, and cried through the entire sealing, but it was so beautiful. It was great to be able to witness their sealing and they will be bringing another baby girl into their family in November!

Today I Marry My Best Friend...

On May 5, Chris and I were married in the Saint George Temple. It was a beautiful day, bright and sunny and warm. We had been waiting so long for this day and were anxiously awaiting the day we could kneel across the altar and be sealed together for time and eternity. Well, after 6+ years, from the time we met, we finally made it! We had a simple wedding and luncheon that followed at The Ledges golf course. We ended up getting married the same day as the Iron Man competition as well. I do not recommend getting married on that day. Chris and I had to take quite a few detours to get up to The Ledges. We had our luncheon, cut the cake, (which was fantastic), threw the bouquet and garter, and ended around 5 PM. Short and sweet, and we drove back to our townhouse in Sandy and caught a red eye the next day to our honeymoon in Florida. It was totally worth taking off an entire week of work! My wedding day was everything I could have imagined and it couldn't have gone any better. I also have the best friends in the entire world, and I get to work with them! They drove down for my wedding, and apparently had quite the girls' trip. Kinda sad I missed going down with them but I got married instead :)
